How to Sketch a Bear

1

The first thing we need to do is draw out the shapes and guides to make the framework for your bear that you will be drawing. Start with the head shapes, then large body shape. When that is done you can add the limb shapes, each paw, and the neck.

2

Using the head guide begin sketching out the shape of the bear's head. When you sketch out the lining be sure to make the edges like small needles drawn close together. Draw out the ears, then the snout or muzzle of the bear.

3

Continuing on, we will now tackle the task of sketching out the fluffy detailing on the bear's face. This is basically the brow and skull shape of the head. Draw and color in the eyes as well as the nose tip. Add detailing inside the ears too.

4

up next, sketch out the bear's long thick legs like so. The toes should be drawn in because this is where the claws will be drawn in. Sketch out the chest and all the hairy detailing.

5

You will now sketch out the back part of the neck, as well as the large hump. Sketch out the belly, sketch in the belly's detailing, then add all the rest of the texture on the bear's body.

6

Finish drawing the bear's body as well as the back legs and back paw or foot. Don't forget those toes.

7

Now you will draw the claws on each toe, then color them in.

8

You can now sketch out the rugged or rocky boulder that the bear is standing on. Erase the mistakes then you are ready to see what a sketch of a bear should look like.

9

When all the shading is done, your sketched bead should look like or similar to the one you see here.

Description: Before I get to some new stuff today I wanted to get this lesson uploaded. It's another sketched version of an animal and I think you guys will like it. Here is "how to sketch a bear", step by step. I haven’t sketched or drawn any bears lately so this is one of those practice run lessons to see how the bear would turn out using a new drawing program. Anyways, here is my version on sketching a bear. As you can see this bear is mighty looking as he stands or poses on his rugged rock ledge. Bears love climbing and exploring on rough terrain even if the bear is a forest dweller like the black bear. Grizzly bears on the other hand like walking about anywhere. I labeled this tutorial intermediate because of the main tutorial image. Other than, it should be pretty simple to tackle the tutorial. I will be back in a bit with other lessons for you all to enjoy so stay tuned in for more fun.
