Description: Yesterday I was drawing live for a while and the stream was pretty cool because I was making another fantasy based drawing and then turned it into a tutorial. So having said that, I think you will all agree that some of you have been waiting all day to learn "<strong>how to draw a flying horse</strong>", step by step. I was going to name this tutorial just Pegasus, but we all know what Pegasus looks like. A flying horse on the other hand can be drawn to look like anything you want. For instance, in me design I chose to add some bands on the ends of the mane to show style, and the fiery colors are supposed to represent fire, and passion. The color green I chose to go with expresses the origins of this flying animal. The green suggests that this breed of flying horse lives or comes from deep inside the forest. Because of this fact, the earthy tones convey this through the color coordination. No matter what you choose to color your drawing in with, one thing remains the same, teaching yourself "<em>how to draw a flying horse</em>" is probably one of the “must do” things that all artists have to draw at least once in their life. I know I have drawn my share. Well, that’s it, the time is here when you start a journey that will take you to fantasy land. Description: Yo may have some difficulty with this lesson if you are a novice artist. Do the best that you can and remember to take your time. Start by making three shapes, one for the head, another for the the chest, and one more shape for the back end. Draw or connect the dots like so to form an actual outline of the body. Add a neck line and then one more for the wing.
Description: Lightly sketch out the horse's eyes like so and notice how the expression is based on that of a real horse. The definition and detail needs to be drawn in on the snout and then sketch in the nostrils and inner ear tissue.
Description: Now its time to begin sketching out the flying horse's mane which is very loose and free looking. The strands are thick, and long and there is even a band on a chunk which could have been placed there by a villager that owns this horse.
Description: Okay, sketch in the neck, chest, and then the front legs and hooves. AS you know horses have very defined bodies due to all the muscle they have. You will need to show the muscle definition by sketching in some overlaying lines. When you're done, move to step six.
Description: You are officially almost done with this drawing now that you are half way in. Finish sketching out the arch of the back as well as the rear of the animal, and then one of the back legs. Draw the belly and then the genitalia of the horse.
Description: This is one of my favorite steps because here you will begin sketching out the long, lush beautiful tail. I love the way that the hair strands separate as they blow in the breeze. The tips should look sharp, and the tail should be detailed as you see here.
Description: Begin drawing out the entire wing layout like so, and notice how I drew the ends of the wing to bend or fold down a bit. This is to convey an action pose. Sketch out some feather tips, and then the ends.
Description: And finally clean up the drawing by erasing the lines and shapes that you drew in step one. Sketch in all the detailing to the wings like so, and then add last minute definition to the mane.
