Description: Hey guys, welcome back to another fun filled lesson and today I will be showing you how to draw one of the most popular dinosaurs from the new Jurassic Park movie. Here is how to draw a indoraptor, step by step. Now, I haven't seen Jurassic World yet, but as soon as it is released on DVD I will be either renting or buying the movie. I am a big Jurassic Park fan and I love raptors. The story goes that the indoraptor was secretly created in a lab by Doctor Wu. He used Blue's blood and I think blood from the Indominus rex. I don't know the full story that is why I am dying to watch the movie. All I know is that this lesson was so fun to draw and I love how the coloring came out. I must warn you that it will be a challenge to recreate the Indoraptor using this lesson, but I'm confident that if you take your time you will be successful. I will be back with more drawing fun, for now have fun with this tutorial on drawing the Indoraptor.
Description: First and foremost, let's break down the raptor into simple shapes so it will be easier to create the raptor's form. Try to draw these lightly on your paper so they will be easier to erase later!
Description: Now, let's work on the shape of his brow and nose area, using thin line weights to detail the hollow of his snout as well as the nostrils and eye. Let's start shaping up a part of the neck as well.
Description: Now, this may seem really intimidating to draw, but read first; start off by drawing the shape of the jaw FIRST then work your way into the teeth for that lower jaw. Afterwards, draw the foreshadowed jaw/teeth underneath the upper jaw. Then, go ahead and draw some indication of skin fold around the corner of the mouth.
Description: Let's tackle the shape of the neck FIRST, then we can shift our attention towards the lower jaw completion. Once that has been drawn, let's work on the shoulder/arm area. Notice how there are a lot of definition for muscles? Draw the shapes of the shoulder first then you can worry about sketching in the muscle tone.
Description: Ugh, this is going to be a little difficult. Let's start by drawing the forearms of this beast first, then work on the hands by sketching the palm/hand shape, then the individual fingers, working your way from the index fingers to the 'pinkies'. Use thin lines to define the muscle tone as well as the tendons in the hands.
Description: Let's now begin by drawing the shape of the back and then the belly area. Once that has been drawn, work on the thigh and then the calf. Then, draw the shape of the toes first and then work your way to the claws. Once the outlines/shapes of the limbs have been drawn, go ahead and draw thin lines to sketch in definition to the feet and legs.
Description: Since this creature is in a 3/4 view and he is kind of facing towards us as well, you won't see much length of the tail and this is because of the perspective/depth. Draw only a semi - short appearance to to the tail.
Description: Let's use thin lines for sketch in the spines alongside his neck as well as the scaly pattern that trails all down his back to his tail. Keep in mind the creature's 'form' to draw these markings kind of 'wrapping around' the raptor's body shape and contours!
Description: Lastly, let's draw the volcanic smoke cloud. Just draw some big curved lines that kind of curl inwards. Do a series of these types of line shapes in layers to give the giant cloud some depth.
Description: Once you've drawn everything and you are indeed satisfied with your outcome, you can erase your initial guidelines from earlier and end up with this! I hope y'all enjoyed this lesson, I had a lot of fun working on this!
