Description: Musical instruments are used to express how one feels, to entertain a mixture of people, and to even bring sadness and joy through sound. I am going to show you guys "how to draw a saxophone, step by step”. The saxophone is a brass instrument that omits musical noise just by using the air from your lungs. Now because the musical device is played this way, it falls in the woodwind family. The closest relative to the saxophone is the clarinet and this is because they both use a single reed mouthpiece in order to be played. The sax was invented back in 1841 by a man named “Adolphe Sax”. The main purpose of his creation was to construct a musical device that would be the loudest, and most versatile out of all woodwinds that where currently in existence. The construction of the saxophone was designed to look like a low or drooping bell. To my knowledge I only know of three different types of saxophones and they are; an E♭alto sax, a B♭soprano sax, and the B♭tenor sax. They all look the same except the soprano sax is smaller then the other two. Almost the entire construction of this instrument is made of brass. Now you would think that based on that fact, the saxophone should belong to the brass instruments category right? Wrong, because the sound waves are made from an oscillating reed instead of a players lips blowing into a pipe, the beautiful sax will forever stay in the woodwind family. When I lay out the steps I will tell you what each part of the saxophone is that you are going to be drawing. Of course there will be some parts that are left out because I simplified the sketch so that everyone could have a chance drawing this incredible instrument. My grandfather used to play the sax, and because of that he schooled me on some of the history, and facts about it. I think you guys will enjoy this lesson that will inevitably teach you “how to draw a saxophone, step by step”. Remember, if there is an instrument that you want to see as a tutorial, just let me know and I will do my best to fill your request promptly. I will be back soon with more drawing fun!
Description: The first thing you need to do is draw out the outlined shape of the saxophones body frame. An easy way to do this is to draw a bubble letter like "L" and add a circle at the end. Add the vertical guideline, and move to the next step.
Description: Now that the bell shape is drawn, you will now draw the "bow". You will also need to draw a band line that is on the upper part of the bow and then let the shape flow into the construction of the "body" as you see here.
Description: You will now need to make your saxophone look like it has a hollow hole in the bell part of the instrument. Draw a circle shape to complete that feat, and then draw a crescent shaped line around the right edging to give it that 2-D effect. Add the detailing line for the body of the sax and then draw some of the keys you see here. There is a lot more keys on a sax but to make it simple I just added a few.
