Description: Wow, I am already on my fourth tutorial for the day and I am already feeling like I can go for hours longer. This next lesson is going to be geared toward the sports section again to match the football I submitted. So without further ado, let’s learn how to draw a football helmet step by step. Now as you know football helmets are used by individuals that participate in this rouged sport that involves slamming, hitting, pushing, pounding, running, kicking and anything else you can imagine that inflicts pain. There is an age old question to ”who was the master mind behind the creation of the playing sport of football”? It is said that a gentleman by the name of Walter Chauncey Camp is known to be the "Father of American Football". The reason being is because he is the one responsible for changing the way athletes played rugby football all together. What kinds of changes did he make you ask? Well the most important changes actually involved the introduction of the line of scrimmage and of down-and-distance rules. Traditionally American football is played on a field that is 360 feet long and 160 feet wide. Now each team scores points one out of four ways; a touchdown which is worth six points, they can also score an additional point after a touchdown with a PAT or point-after touchdown play, then there is a field goal which is worth three points, and then a safety and that is worth two points. Let’s get back to talking about the football helmet shall we? The football helmet is a protective device that is used to collect the blows to the player’s heads to protect them from serious injury. They are made from hard plastic that is molded for the outside shell and in the inside it has thick padding. It also has a face mask made of several metal bars, and a chinstrap used to secure the helmet on the head. Back in the day players used straps and earpieces to protect their ears. Now, even though a football player wears a protective helmet that doesn’t take him out of harm’s way. There is still the risk that they will sustain a head injury like a concussion or something even worse. No matter how you look at it the football helmet serves a very important purpose to these rough and rugged players. This tutorial will show you how to draw a football helmet step by step. The lesson is positioned in three different views to give you a true learning experience. And if you like this lesson, then you will also enjoy learning How to Draw a Football
Description: Okay start this first step by drawing a total of three circles. For the top one you will add some front guidelines. On the second shape draw the guidelines for the face protective bars. Do the same on the third shape as well.
Description: In this second step you will start drawing out the lining of the protective bars on all three helmets. After that is done you will start shaping out the actual style of the football helmet as seen here. Lastly you will draw out the thickness of the plastic bar on the lid of the helmet on the second and third versions.
Description: You have reached the third step and what you will do now is start drawing out the actual shape of the grill bars on the front view of the helmet. Thicken the bars on the side view and then the three fourths view. On the three fourths view of the helmet you will draw a strip line as shown to you here.
Description: Step four involves drawing out the detailing of the football helmet from the inside of the top helmet. On the second helmet you will add the strip line and then on the third version you will draw out the shape of the padding on the inside of the helmet.
Description: Well you have made it to your last step and all you need to do is draw out the remaining stripes on the top helmet and then detail the grill bars. Add the button shapes on the second helmet and then again in the third helmet. Erase the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.
Description: In the end your sports equipment should come out looking like this when you are done drawing it out. All you have to do now is color them in and even design them with your favorite sports logos. I hope you liked this lesson on how to draw a football helmet step by step.
