How to Draw a Dragon

1

Start off b y making the guides for the body which include the head, torso, and body guides. When that is done you can add guidelines to the neck, legs and tail.

2

To begin the real drawing, you will start sketching out the entire formation/structure of the head. This should also include the snout, lower jaw, mouth line which is crooked, and then the sharp horn like frills.

3

Finish off the face by drawing in the eye. As you can see the eye has a sunken in appearance. Sketch in the nostril humps like so, then add detailing to the mouth line which will turn into the sharp teeth overlapping one another.

4

Now that the head and face are finished, you can begin drawing the body starting with the shape of the neck. Add detailing to the neck which is the indentation. The dragon's chest should also be defined showing the protruding chest bones.

5

Take a step back from the dragon's body and start drawing the semi large wing. As you can see the wing arm is also very thin and bony looking. The wing tissue is also tattered and worn from being in battles whether it was defending itself or catching

6

Finish off the drawing of the wings by sketching out the other wing on the opposite side of the dragon's body. When that is done you can move along to step seven.

7

What you can do now is sketch out the dragon's first leg. Notice the leg is short but very defined with muscle from being so thin. Draw the talons or claws, then add a bit more definition to the leg near the shoulder.

8

Here you will draw in the second front leg. It is raised up with the claws or talons spread apart. Add detailing and definition to the foot as well.

9

Now we can focus on getting this dragon's body drawn out. The rest of the chest or rib cage should be sketched out next, then draw in the sunken in stomach followed by almost the whole back leg and thigh.

10

You are already almost done with your drawing on this unique looking dragon. Draw in the long tail which starts out thick at the butt end, but tappers out as it things to a skinny tip at the end.

11

For the last drawing step all you have to do is sketch in the other hind leg and foot along with the rest of the first leg you drew in step ten. Now you can detail and define the body starting with the ribs, then the thigh muscles. Erase the mistake

12

Now that your drawing is all cleaned up and finished, it should look like the dragon drawing you see here. Color it in and you are ready to show off your work.

Description: Before I upload the other lessons on the band members from 5 Seconds to Summer, I thought I would quickly submit this tutorial on "how to draw a dragon". Now this dragon isn't all that great looking but it's still a dragon. The reason why I say it is not pretty to look at, is because I purposely made sure that I created a skinny, malnourished dragon. It is good to draw dragons in this manner because you can usually build good stories behind the drawing. For my story, this dragon hasn't eaten in months. It's actually one of the last dragons in existence because of how they are becoming extinct. My little sister really liked the drawing and I hope you guys love the lesson. You can tweak this dragon concept in any way you like, there are no worries about that. have fun and enjoy.
