Drawing Eddie Vedder

1

Begin with a simple head guide and facial guidelines.

2

Using the guide you just made, sketch out the structure of Eddie's face like so. You will also add the hairline which is parted over to one side.

3

We will now draw the head shape which is also the hair length. Notice how his hair is wavy, long and flowing.

4

Add detailing to Vedder's hairstyle by add strand lines.

5

Let's work on the face. The most intense part to Eddie Vedder is his captivating eyes. Use the facial guidelines to draw in the eye shapes, then draw in his eyebrows. His stare is pretty unique. The eyebrows rest low on his lids as he is almost alway

6

Up next, sketch out his mouth starting with the lips. You will then add some detailing to the chin by making the clef in his chin.

7

Finally for our last drawing step. Simply draw in the shirt line which will also add the shape of his neck. You will also draw in the jacket opening. Erase the mistakes and guides too.

8

When you're done, this is what Eddie should look like. Of course you should add some shading and color for added texture and definition.

Description: I'm super excited to be uploading this lesson on a grunge legend from the early 90's through today. I wanted to make this drawing for my mother who is a major Pearl Jam fan and loves all of the songs from the band since they started back in 1990. This lesson is going to show us how to draw the front man of Pearl Jam, and that is Eddie Vedder. Some say his sound is one of a kind. That his voice holds the all the anger and sorrow of the youth from his day and from the youth of today. Even though the band Pearl Jam was formed in Seattle, Washington, Vedder was born and partially raised in Evanston, Illinois. It wasn't until Vedder and his family where living in San Diego County, California that he was given his very first guitar on his twelfth birthday by his mother. I guess you can say the reigns came loose on that day, because since then all he was interested in was two things; music and surfing. The image that you see of Eddie Vedder in this lesson is how he looked back in the 90's. Drawing Eddie Vedder should be simple enough, but if you haven't had much practice with drawing portraits or faces before, you may find the task a bit challenging. Anyways, this lesson goes out to my mother and all you Pearl Jam fans out there.
